School Counseling

Welcome to Westside's
School Counseling Page!

"Today's school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow."
-American School Counselor Association, 2016

Westside's school counselors are:

Ms. McClanahan and Mr. Eakin.

In the classroom Ms. McClanahan and Mr. Eakin teach students about having character, different careers and jobs, how to identify and express emotions, and how to get the most out of school. School counseling is not the same as long-term or outpatient counseling, but can provide needed support to students dealing with grief or loss, a recent move, anger management struggles, problems with self esteem, or other issues. If regular counseling is needed, school counselors can also provide referrals to outpatient therapists in the Roanoke area.

School counselors are a resource for teachers, parents, and students. Please do not hesitate to email or call us if you have any questions or need support!
