School Counseling

Welcome to Westside's School Counseling Page!

"Today's school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow."
-American School Counselor Association, 2016

Westside's Professional School Counselors are:

Ms. McClanahan (Ms. Mac) and
Mr. Eakin.

School counselors are a resource for teachers, parents, and students.

Ms. McClanahan and Mr. Eakin help students learn about character traits, different careers, identifying and expressing emotions, how to get along with others and how to get the most out of school. They can also provide needed support to students dealing with grief or loss, a recent move, controlling anger, problems with self esteem, or other issues.

School counseling is not the same as long-term or outpatient counseling. If this type of counseling is needed, Ms. Mac and Mr Eakin can also provide referrals to outpatient therapists in the Roanoke area.

Please do not hesitate to email or call us if you have any questions or need support!
